Some thoughts from our 2010 soloist, Daniel Bell

2010 Spring Course 13

The EYO 2010 Spring Concerts were a really great experience for me. It's the third time I've played a concerto with EYO (the previous times were in 1997 and 2002), and I enjoyed this time the most. It was fantastic to get the chance to perform the Beethoven Concerto three times in a row, so I felt I could really get to grips with it. It was a pleasure to play in the beautiful acoustic of the Usher Hall and to work with Garry Walker, who was a member of the orchestra with me in the early 1990s. He and the orchestra did a fantastic job with the Beethoven and the whole programme.

I'm really happy to see that the EYO is still going from strength to strength. I was in the orchestra in 1991 which was Marjory Dougal's first year in charge (Marj in Charge, as I seem to remember we called her), and I'm delighted that the orchestra has developed so positively since then. It was wonderful to renew my acquaintance with the EYO family and would of course love to play with the orchestra again!
